My Degree Show Space

Oh my goodness it is unreal to think that it's been a full academic year since I was posting about going back at uni and facing a final collection but here we are my lovely little followers!
And yet here we are!

Last week I went back down to Galashiels to set up my degree show space and oh my it took 5 hours which was seriously way over what I expected but I am unbelievably happy with how it has turned out.

Below are a few photos I want to share with you all which includes my two research and development folders, my fabric research, my construction research, my workshop diary, my specification files, the garments and the photos from my photoshoot.

I must say it was pretty surreal to be taking everything out of it's bags and putting it all into this confined little square and seeing it all infront of me again, even more so than it did when I got it altogether to hand in!

On Friday I have my degree show with invited industry members and on the Saturday my family are coming to the private viewing so I'm excited to get them over with so I can get back to work, I'm due my degree results either Monday or Tuesdsay which I'm surprisingly calm about, however I will be in work when I get them so an extra 20 minute break is going to have to be taken to calm down and hopefully celebrate!

Here's photos from ym space, you can see a close up of my sketchbooks and everything else.

An inspirational day

Gee bloggers it's been a few weeks since my last update but that's due to my new job keeping me busy throughout the week! Luckily I have my weekends off and today I was hit by a rare moment of inspiration that I'd like to share with you all.

My mum is having a birthday party in October and has had a few ideas about a dress she wants me to make her so our morning consisted of searching Pinterest for inspiration and from there I got an urge to use up some old fabric from this years collection to make myself my own little dress!

I just wanted something simple because whilst inspiration had me all excited to sew again I couldn't face having to stress over complicated patterns or else risk giving up in favour of trashy Sunday TV.

So here are the end results, theres no zip in the back but its a backless dress and ties around the neck, given that it only took me 6 hours to make I'd say I'm really happy with it! It looks a lot prettier than I thought it was going to turn out halfway through and I'll admit some of my fabric was was in little scraps which complicated things.

I really wish I had ironed this before taking pictures but you can see what I was aiming for.

I have like...5 posts waiting in the wings to share with everyone  and I'm spending every spare second  I have on devising the direction I want this blog to go in so sit patiently! Im excited to change things up and share it with you all.

I left my job!

I am writing this blog post in a very delicate state because last night I went out to celebrate my last day working in the cafe!
I am finally free after 6 years!
So I start the new job on Monday and tomorrow I'm going to have a little brain storm about what I really want to do with this blog. As university is over and I have job security for the next x amount of years I'd really like to take this blog and make it into something a little bit more special :D

So that's my plan, I'll get the notepad out tonight and have a little think about it all.
Above is a photo of me before all of the carnage last night, my hair has never been backcombed so much in its life and yet it still lay flat at the top.
